DaveT
Could someone please help me ID this vintage guitar? I think it may be a L-12, but I am not sure. This is no model or serial # on it.
j45nick
Could someone please help me ID this vintage guitar? I think it may be a L-12, but I am not sure. This is no model or serial # on it. Look carefully inside the F-holes. It can be easy to miss the numbers if they are faded or offset. This is not an L-12. It may be an L-30. This is clearly an "entry level" archtop, with plain pickguard and dot inlays. We need more photos and info: lower bout width, flat back or arch back, woods, etc. to help with a positive ID. Unfortunately, the entry-level archtops are not particularly appealing to collectors, even from the period of this guitar (pre 1947). I'm no archtop expert, but I suspect someone will chime in on this.
StijnV
Hi Dave, To me the guitar looks to be an L-48 from 1946-1947 maybe. Kind regards, Stijn
retrorod
Very pretty back! Yep, entry-level, given the dot inlays. Very L-48ish. How does she sound? You can put this over to the vintage Gibson dept. and get some more input...!

DaveT
I bought her at an auction yesterday. I wrote most of this in the vintage forums with some questions, but I wanted to share some pictures here since you all helped me out. I believe it a L-50 not an L-48 from the 1930's (from the logo). Shes not in the best shape, but decent enough. I hope I didn't over pay. https://picasaweb.google.com/110458731501534232922/1930SGibsonL50?authuser=0&feat=directlink
