Value of Les Paul Deluxe

SailorCull

Recommended Posts

Greetings. My father recently passed away and in his basement is a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in case. The serial number as far as I can see (kind of hard to see actually) which is on the back of the headstock along with Made in USA is 177379 Any idea how I can find how old or the value of this guitar? Thank you in advance!

Hello there,and welcome!..,

(sorry to hear about your father,...condolences).

I'm always on the look out for early deluxes...this appears to be a 1970-71-72- model,...can you post pics?

The value will be down to condition,a lot of the early deluxes were routed to take full size humbuckers, these are of no interest to me or many others,...but, even routed they can bring a fair amount, again depending on what is ''original''...and body condition etc,

There's a routed 1975 deluxe on the bay right now.....starting price £3,500.

It's hard to tell of the value without pics/inspection,.....it's certainly valuable,...and if it was your fathers.......priceless?

(one of townshends went for over $30,000,but again thats the ''windmill factor''[biggrin] )

Thank you all for the input. My father had a music store that he closed 12 years ago. This guitar needs a front paint job and it looks like he had started to tdo this then got sick and never finished it. One of the pickups is off, with it and other parts in a bag and he had bought some new parts. I will upload picks soon. I would like to paint it, etc and use it for my studio recording.

You know, it sounds to me like, it will have a LOT more "sentimental" value,

than any monetary value, that would/could be attached. I think it's great,

that you are going to restore it, and USE it! That's the best thing you could

do for it, and for the memory of your Dad, in that regard. [thumbup]
