elessar820
I always thought that my Burstbucker 3 wasn't cutting it as a metal pickup and I know it isn't designed for it, but it's been losing signal lately if touched,so I decided to swap it out I'm not saying the BB3 isn't a good pickup, it's a phenomenal pickup for the right type of music and I really liked it, but I like heavier sounding stuff. Between a Dimebucker (which I've used before) and a Dirty Fingers I went with the Dirty Fingers. Very high output with a lot of clarity, I can actually hear every note I'm playing and the harmonics and sustain are great. It definitely beats a lot of High Output pickups on the market today. They should have put these in BFG's to begin with if they wanted to call it a flamethrower. It definitely is now, before it was more like a squirt gun. deepblue
They are nasty arent they? Very powerful pups. Too powerful for my taste, but if you want the Metal sound they will deliver big time. The 490/498's are sweet too.

Wolff
I highly recommend this SD set for hard rock/metal and they clean up exceptionally well. http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seymour-Duncan-Distortion-Mayhem-SH6-Humbucker-Pair-?sku=300039
rocketman
I have Dirty Fingers in my Gibson Sonex and they do scream compared to the Burstbuckers in my Les Pauls. I believe that mine are potted, but they still have a lot of feedback from the amp. Did you notice this too?
:oilpit:
Eddie Van Halen used a PAF, and he had the most crazy distortion ever PAF=low output High output=pointless P.S. I don't mean to sound like a ****, even though I do.

elessar820
I've used a Jazz/Distortion setup in an Ibanez awhile back and really liked the results. The Invader is a pretty good metal pickup too, but not much good for anything else. I really like Seymour Duncan pickups and would love to try the P-Rails out, I'm not a fan of Dimarzios though.
