radiome
Hi! New to the forum... This is my first post. I'm 17 years old and I live in Sweden. All you need to know =) Soooo... I got the SG Special Faded from Gibson as so many else that can't afford a Standard (I'll get one when I finish school though!) As a student it's hard enough to pay all other stuff. But hey, I love the guitar. The set up is perfect and it feels really nice. I like the fat "50's" neck it has (isn't it those who's bigger than normal ones?)... And it sounds great! And yes guys I'll follow the rule, here's some pictures :D The whole body and the headstock. (Oh and btw, why does everyone whine about the tuners? I think they are great, stays in tune much better than my other guitar does!)
nolongermike@gibson
Congrats. When I was 17, Gibson was not making anything remotely affordable for a 17 year old to own, so you're a lucky guy. Enjoy it, that's a great guitar.
ssgfowler
Congrats, the Special Faded is a great guitar for the money (I couldn't afford a real Gibson when I was 17, nor when I was 41, when I bought this one), and with a few cosmetic parts you can make it look like this; And it can always be upgraded when you can afford to. radiome
Mike: Yeah I like it very much, the only thing i kind of miss is the neck bindings. And I must say, it really is perfectly balanced, not like the epiphone I have, on which the headstock always falls down to my feet when I don't hold it at the neck. I'm buying a hardcase for the gibson this week, the gigbag that it came with was a bit thin, and I want to have the guitar for a long time without damages ssgfowler: It looks really nice with the pickup covers. Is it hard to put it on?
Jewwer
it looks very nice. I am also to install a pair of PU covers someday. ](*,)/

ssgfowler
ssgfowler: It looks really nice with the pickup covers. Is it hard to put it on? It's not that hard to do, but you do need to be handy with a soldiering iron (the covers need to be soldered on). If you don't know how to do it, its' best left to a guitar tech (if done wrong it CAN ruin the P/U's). Just for reference, the bridge P/U in mine is not the stock 490T, its' an Angus Young Signature P/U.

And since I worked during summerbreak I had the money for a new amp also. Got myself a valveking tubeamp comboversion by peavy. At school we have big marshall stacks, i think like 3 or 4 of them. Haven't tested it trough them yet but I think it will sound awesome =) Oh yeah, I study music at school, that's why we have that kind of stuffs. And a studio with all you need and so on blabla. Sooo... I like going to school =)

dickey
No,wax potting is a process where the entire pickup is dipped in wax to stop the microphonic squeal you get when you're too close to your amp--usually done to single coil Fender type pickups, not humbuckers.
