Ticking Amp!

Guys,

Anyone had this issue with there amp?

When the amp is on and the guitar is connected there is what i can only describe as a ticking sound when the guitar is not being played.... Maybe ticking is the wrong word for it.. some people might even say it sounds like beats.

I have heard a suggestion to do with pickup height..

I dont wear a watch whilst playing...

Its a Vintage Modern 2266...

Thanks in advance..

+1 :) ...

I have not noticed any ticking with my amp. One thing I do find however, is that when I get a quite "buzz" (not the hum of the fan which I'm accustomed to, but a definitive "buzz") whenever I take my fingers off the strings on my Les Paul. While I'm playing and the strings are either muted or pressed to the fretboard, the amp is fine, but as soon as it's allowed to "hang loose" (eg plugged in and sitting on the stand) there is a small buzz. It's starting to annoy me, to be honest. I don't have this problem with my SG, which boggles me. Anyone else with this problem?

Me, SRV. I am gonna have my luthiere look into it when (if) I can ever part with her long enough to have her set up. Some one said it might be a loose ground strap, I think....

Is it a tube ticking? As in, expanding as it heats up?

Pickup height? Not likely.

Does it happen if the nothing is plugged in?

How about if just the cord is plugged in, no guitar?

If it happens only while the guitar is plugged in do you get the ticking sound with either pickup?

Both?

Have you tried it in a different room or tried plugging the amp into a different circuit?

Whatever the sound is its audible through the speakers...... I can only hear it if I mute the strings...

Methinks it's the tubes or your speaker cable, but as the latter is most likely stationary and not being jerked around I wouldn't think it'd be the culprit.

My TSL100 does the same thing occasionally, I never notice it while playing, only when I'm waitin' for her to warm up.
