Blsftw
I need help identifying my guitar that was given to me by my now deceased uncle that did not tell me much about it just that it ment alot to him, the swirl on the head and the crack in the neck happened at a concert when the strap broke. Here are some links of pics, and if anybody can give me an estamated value it would be great too, thanks. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa272/blsftw/SANY0514.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa272/blsftw/SANY0515.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa272/blsftw/SANY0521.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa272/blsftw/SANY0522.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa272/blsftw/SANY0516.jpg

Ian Martin
It reminds me of a Hagstrom, but the headstock is slightly different. The lack of brand name and serial number lead me to believe that it's a cheap knock-off. What's it worth? The sentiment of your Uncle...probably not much, monetarily. Tim Plains
No idea what this is or what that's worth. Don't be fooled, it's not a Gibson.
:oilpit:
It's a good thing you put the title in caps, I never would have read this if it was in lower case.

pippy
As you will have gathered by now it's not made by Gibson. However - one thing especially confuses me; The inlay on the peghead is, as far as I can see, identical to that found on certain hgh-end Gibson arch-top guitars; Byrdland, L5C/CES etc. The instrument also seems to be pretty well made so I'd guess it was built by an independent luthier who had access to some of the stuff in the Gibson factory; why else could that particular design end up there? Surely no-one would spend a lot of time copying out that so closely, would they??? Possible, of course, but likely? As to value; Any guitar with neck/headstock issues is not going to be very tempting. I would keep it as a memento.

nolongermike@gibson
I don't know what it is, but it sure looks like its well made and cool. I'm guessing a luthier built that as a one-off. Nice thing to have left to you. Value? Don't sell it. You'll always regret it. If I saw it hanging in a store, if its as well built as I'm guessing it might be, with the cracked neck, I'd probably go no more than $1000.00 for it if I could get my luthier guy to fix it for cheap. rybass
It's a 70's japanese guitar. Made in one of a few Ibanez factories. I have owned 3 in my short life. It is an Custom Agent 2405 model. I've never seen one with out the Ibanez logo though. Memphis made a bad copy of it but this one looks exactly like the Ibanez. Great guitars though; pancaked mahogany with 2-3 piece necks. Usually super 70's pickups (great paf clones). I don't see a serial number so it's either a factory second, proptotype or made before '76. With it broken and non-original it's prob worth $400-$700 depending on who wants it. Here is a pic of the last one I owned. Notice the sweet scroll pickguard, do you have yours? Your pups have prob been changed too as the originals had gold covers and an Ibanez logo of some sort. Great ax, I miss mine.

[/quote'] Absolutely! I had three of the agents and one of the 59er copies. Unbelievable guitars and you used to be able to score them for a couple hundred. Now they are upwards of $1000 in great condition. I really miss mine but it paid off a credit card for me after graduation.
Blsftw
Thanks Guys I realy appreciate your help in identifing the guitar, as to the way it sounds I owned a 77' les paul custom gold w/ a emg 81 bottom and a 85 top and this guitar sounded way cleaner. The bottom pickup is a Di Marzio I think. Do you guys think it would be worth restoring?
