AnneS Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Best concert I ever saw were these two, back in '99 on their "Western Wall" tour--was a small auditorium and it's hard to describe the perfect energy, balance and joy of the evening. So this is a great find this morning-- this video from that tour, outside the morning TV show studios in NYC. Enjoy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3jupvnW-dk&feature=related
BigKahune Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 . So very nice. Love both these gals. Great find. . B) Thanks Anne.
milod Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Aye, a nice find... But... laugh at me if you will, but my head kept adding an autoharp part. m
drathbun Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Paul McCartney's key man Paul Wickens can be seen playing at 2:17.
onewilyfool Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Does anyone remember that album cover with the YOUNG Linda on it??? That gave me many fantasies as a young man....lol
milod Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Hmmmmm.... Linda is only a year younger than I am. But as with my sister... looks a lot younger. Harris and my sis are the same age. Sheesh. Howcome they look so much younger? %#%#%#@$!@$!@#$%#^@$ m

Howcome they look so much younger? %#%#%#@$!@$!@#$%#^@$ m Milo, it's not the model year of the car: it's the amount and type of mileage on the odometer. It's OK. Emmylou is just a couple of months younger than me, but looks a whole lot better. 1947 was a good model year, especially for guitars and girl singers.
DanvillRob Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Who wouldn't like those two singing together? Emmylou is one of the all-time consummate musicians/singers out there...and Linda..... oh my..... what a voice! My brother and I saw Linda in concert back in about 1975/1976. Sat in the first row.... took some photos...and my brother drew this with a pencil and gave it to me for my birthday way back then:

milod Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Yup on '47 being a good model year. And for what it's worth, if my sis weren't in Texas, I'd force her into singing with me as we did when we were kids and teens. She's pretty good. As for the drawing... a "wow" for that, too. m
DanvillRob Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Wow!!! The guy has talent. Yeah....but he's kinda weird...but in a good way! I should give it back to him and have him "colorize" it like he did his pencil drawing of Neil Young. (you'll note that he had Neil sign it)
Daryl M Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Linda is my all time favorite female singer and Emmylou could sing harmony to a chain saw. If you threw in Alison Krauss, you'd have a trio that would sing like the soundtrack to Heaven.

If you threw in Alison Krauss, you'd have a trio that would sing like the soundtrack to Heaven. I hear that Emmylou, Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin sang together at Neil Young's Music Cares tribute concert--now that's the trio I'd give anything to hear. But for now, we have some fabulous combinations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D8YEgANLow&feature=related Emmylou singing the low line (and going for 'dress" where the others opted for "shoes"--a rare if minor flub.) And here is another fine noise, too!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W8W-3uerDQ&feature=related
DanvillRob Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 And here is another fine noise, too!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W8W-3uerDQ&feature=related I've seen Emmylou play at least a dozen different guitars on stage...I wonder just how many she has.......
EuroAussie Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Lovelly, the more I play my J-150 the more I realise just what a brilliant strummer the Gibson Jumbo is. Just perfect.

Just like everyone else, I can't hear this without thinking of the Siren Song from "O brother, where art thou?". What a great collection of American music!
