parham112 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I bought some new strings last week, DM Blue Steel. When I got to restringing my guitar I noticed that the set came with two g strings. One of them is a wound string, like E, a, d, and the other is a normal not-wound g string. Can somebody tell me what kind of difference, if any, it makes using the wound g compared to the regular one? Kind of a noob question, but I'd never gotten any strings like this.
parham112 Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Hmm.. I didn't know that.. Can you explain why? I don't know much about intonation, so I'm interested to learn anything.
damian Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Wound G.....thicker, will have more string "noise" when moving chords up and down the neck...also harder to bend.... Unwound G.....thinner, eaiser to bend........Intonation; Check out the DIY thread on the Epi Lounge, and/or do research... There's a lot to know and learn about it.....
