Gary Moore Tribute Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I just purchased some gold pointers for my Bonamassa & Standard However they didn't fit! Their 8.4mm drilled but don't quite make it past the screw point What size do I need 8.6mm or more?
Bender 4 Life Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 sounds like you need a piece of sandpaper wrapped around an apropriately sized pencil(or whatever)to enlarge the holes just a touch....... the holes aren't "flat sided" on 1 side for asian pots are they?
L5Larry Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 This is the typical problem of Metric versus English, or American versus Asian origin. All English measurements DO NOT exactly convert to metric dimensions, so non-American manufacturing has adopted it's own set of standards. I REALLY wish the U.S. would have just adopted the metric system back in the late 60's like they told us in school they were going to do... The pointers you need will be labeled in English measurements. American made (or spec'd) pots (as used in guitars) are made to mount in a 3/8" hole. The exact metric conversion of that is 9.525mm. So the pointers you need will a hole diameter of either 3/8", or 9.6mm.
