Apologies to V drivers.

I replied to EA's post about being ditched from AGF, and someone had mentioned they were all V drivers and metros, so I laughed cause a relative is a V driver and then the thread got the chop.

I think there was fear it would take a political turn. Not sure why a car reference (and my reply to it) got the thread axed. It was all in good fun. Oh well, back to playing git tarrr.

I saw it was gone and thought perhaps my "I wont post my religious views, nor would I like to tip-toe around the views of others" might have taken a sour turn... glad to know it wasn't me ;)

I drive a Volvo:

What are you apologizing for?

Nice 544. Now THAT brings back memories. Of course, I was a mere child at the time. [smile]

What's that hiding behind it in the garage?

Um, not to be a dolt or anything but...why would calling someone a Volvo driver be insulting?

Not particularly insulting, but 'over here' it tends to be an accoutrement of the holier than thou set who believe their way is the only way and you'd better listen and do as they say or else they'll, they'll.... well they've never shown what it is they will do.. but you'd better listen.. or else! [cursing] While drivin' a Volvo doesn't necessarily mean you are part of that subset of the human population, taken together with other affections, attitudes and mores, it defines a demographic.

Geez, Tommy, you do know just how to step right back into it, don't you?

Yeah, it was born the same year as I was. So, I was a mere child at the time, also. I love it when "kids" ask me if I owned it since it was new.

Behind it is my brother's Catalina. I think it's a '64. Alas, it's sitting on 4 flats and he uses it to store his kid's toys. He keeps saying "someday".

The juxtaposition of the bike hub and the hollowbody in your avatar is an interesting one. I assume you bash gears of all types. Old cars and old guitars are two expensive hobbies. An old car can take you down the road in style, but an old guitar can take you to another place in time and space.

Well, cycling is my life. As far as the avatar, someone on a bike forum wanted "artsy" photos of bike components. That was my attemp and I kinda liked it. Old guitars and old cars as hobbies? They aren't really hobbies for me. The guitar in the photo is my oldest. It's a '92 Herb Ellis (ES-165). And the car is my only car. I use it for everything...shopping, hauling lumber, etc. I really don't drive that much. I probably put 5x more miles on a bike than my car and 10x more miles on my car than my guitars.

I left off the affections and attitudes that might be considered obliquely political.

V driver, sort of opposite to a monster truck driver with a rifle rack and Hank Jr. on the stereo.

 That... [unsure] that would be a close approximation, exspecially if the aforementioned rack were occupied.

Hand up. I confess.

I am about to take delivery of my 10th Volvo. A C30 R-Design DrivE in white to replace my ageing but great V40. Mrs AJ has an XC90.

I've never been so insulted in my life. I'm going to require you all to be banned and I can have my very own Volvo appreciation forum.

And before you ask, yes I can get 3 guitar cases my 2 amps, mic stand, music stand and toolbox of assorted leads and sundries in my son's Fiat 500 so I reckon the C30 will do the job.

And another thing, I'm right and anyone who disagrees must drive a Saab.

For some reason I can't remember, we had this car or the model up before. I say it again : My grandparents drove one in the 60's and it has been my fav-car ever since.

What has it to do with Gibsons. Put a J-45 on the backseat of the 444 - 545 and get on top of the world. . . .

My old V-70 easily holds three guitar cases in the back, even with the rear seat up. And I've traveled a lot of miles with three Gibby's back there, covered by a packing blanket. I always park the car where I can watch it when I stop for lunch, however. Been driving Volvos since the mid-70's. Been playing Gibsons since the mid-60's. They get along just fine.

So....

It comes to light that the whole Gibson forum members appear to drive Volvos.

Oh My...

Oh My Dog's!

Haha ha he - Doesn't Volvo mean I rock'n'roll in Latin ?

Careful Em7

I started this thread after a previous thread that mentioned both Dog things and V's was canned by the mods.

We now know it is a very sensitive area. And it wasn't the Dog's. No flaming haired unshaved wild ones in pickups with their ole Gibsons, no...

So BK, what about us flaming haired unshaved wild ones with our old Gibsons in our Volvos? Or is that just too confusing for words? [biggrin]

That ol' Volvo may be the coolest car I've seen for a while.

Well, that and the orange minted Chevelle I saw today. I want me an orange minted Chevelle. I'll make it a hybrid and just tic EVERYBODY off!!

If my ticker wasn't so punked out I'd also ride a bicycle a lot. One thing I do really miss.

Oh, and....Hummingbird!

There. That should cover the acoustic topic dilemma!
