gotomsdos Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Hi,gibby 1, Any advices ? I'v been addicted to J45 true vintage (adi top), wanna get one. I'd like traditional tone(traditiaonal bracing, at best forward shifted) of GIBSON, with adi top, mahogany back & sides, round or slope shoulder body, sunburst, short scale, water drip pickguard Any advices ? Any other models you think at similar price better sounding ? 2, Average bargain price ? Big pity, no gibson store around me, so gotta web buy. I find a couple of gibson web stores: Sweetwater, music123, musician's freind, guitar center, sameday music, etc. They share same price $2999, not inexpensive, isn't it? Heard that a $300 down is still possible with some models at some web stores like elderly.com. I emailed them, music123 generously gives me $2799, good heart, the rest say, no discount, but still offer talk. Anyone who knows the average bargain price or any similar experiences? Thank you !
rar Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Anyone who knows the average bargain price or any similar experiences? I have no idea what the "average bargain price" is, but an aggressive discount would be 40% off list ($2324.40), with 30% off list ($2711.80) sort of a standard good deal from your local dealer. -- Bob R

I'd appreciate it a lot! Good luck to you.. But would you give some opinion about J45 TV ? or anything else ?
ChrisA83 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 My J-45 TV is incredible - it was also a web buy and I'm really happy with it. Many people on here say they've never played a bad one. Go for it!
jdd707 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 So there are at least three prices. 1) Suggested Retail .... that's what Gibson says and what you would pay if you bought it off the Gibson site. Nobody EVER pays that (I hope)! 2) the Minimum advertised price .... that is the lowest price that Gibson allows dealers to advertise (if new, you want to buy from a Gibson dealer, be it a store or web purchase, so the warrant works. That's the number you will see on MF or Sweetwater. 3) The lowest price the dealer will sell the instrument to you. This will almost always lower than the advertised price. For instance, my latest Gibson purchase was $350 below the Minimum advertised price. So, even buying from the web, call them and beat 'em down. Good luck.
onewilyfool Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Don't forgrt, Musician's Friend has been having 15% and 12% off coupons...keep your eye peeled.....that can be quite a discount to their lowest price...

Red 333 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I wonder why your J45 TV has print stuff (coustom shop sign ?)on the back of headstock. standard J45 TV has no. Mine's a 2008, and it too has the Custom Shop logo. Red 333
gotomsdos Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Mine's a 2008, and it too has the Custom Shop logo. Red 333 Hi, Red 333 ! Then, don't the rest of 08 J45 TVs and all after that have it ?
Red 333 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 No. Not all J-45 TV's have the Custom Shop logo on the neck. They all have an orange lable, but the lable may or may not say "True Vintage" after the J-45 model name. The only consistent thing about Gibson is inconsistency. Red 333
