GuitarGodV Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 One quick question - Would I be able to fit a set of grovers on my Les Paul Traditional? I was told I could because the stock tuners had the bushings with the nut and washer. Is this true? Also, does that mean I can't put any grovers on a les paul with press-in bushings? Thanks!

Thanks! not as far as I know, bushings and nut washers are 2 very different installation methods. Bushing does not have nuts and washers and is more historic way of mounting tuners nut and washers has been the standard for many years now so answer to your question, yes you can fit grovers, your main concern should be the position of the mounting screw on the back of the tuner fitting the old holes without having to make new ones.
LOSTVENTURE Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 My Traditional came with locking Grovers. This is the Trad with the P-90s, so it it a special case? Don
Angellus Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 My Traditional came with locking Grovers. This is the Trad with the P-90s, so it it a special case? Don no not a special case, installs the same as a set of normal modern tuners. when ordering your new set just make sure you measure the hole for the tuner (without the original tuner) for a good fit. are you not a fan of the locking tuners? what tuners you planning on getting? the Grover-Kluson replica's used on the standard traditional? or the grover Kidney bean keys?

Well, if you look at this MLP post... http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/custom-shop/5179-help-how-install-grover-rotomatics-properly.html you will eventually see a post by Roman Rist saying that the holes should line up. Do you think this is true?
Angellus Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Well, if you look at this MLP post... http://www.mylespaul...s-properly.html you will eventually see a post by Roman Rist saying that the holes should line up. Do you think this is true? yes, it all depends on the exact tuners you are going to install. if your installing the klusons (2 hole top and bottom) then you'll need an additional screw hole for the top of each tuner. if you are installing similiar grovers to the type you already have then as long as you get grovers with the mounting screw hole directly at the bottom and not slanted/angled then they should be a direct replacement no problems. these are angled grover screw holes http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/images/0001/7362/a6.jpg?1255679913 these are straight grover screw holes http://www.gak.co.uk/rs/tn/tn2_9733794.jpg remember you need 3 x 3 configuration.
