ghettoshelf Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I am looking at trading one of my basses for a 1986 Les Paul Standard Gold top with an ebony fretboard. It is from a reputable store that I have dealt with for years but he knows nothing about an ebony board on a standard from this year. Also the top looks as if it may be a refinish but its hard to tell.Does anyone have any info they can help me with before I do the trade. The guitar feels and plays good otherwise. Thanks

That will tell you not only when it was made, exactly, but how it came out of the factory. So, you'll know if it was "refinished," or not...and, possibly, if it was a special order, as well? Won't hurt to try that, before you buy. CB
