I purchased a ES 335 Plain Dot Gloss with serial #02939747. How would I go about find out when it was made?

I guess your's was made on the 293rd day of 2009.

 

You can also call Gibson Customer Service and they can give you any information they have about the guitar and it's date of manufacture.

Hi I have started a website to try and document all this gray area of guitars. If you find out more about your guitar, post your guitar on axvault.com. I am trying to create a ancestry.com for guitars. I feel we don't own them,but that we are using them until the next owner. You can post the story if your guitar and transfer that record if you sell it and keep a copy in you vault. It is free. I do not know if it will ever make money but we thousands of collectors and users posting all brands/makes models/ comments and information. We also profile Luthiers and Techs and provide news. Post you guitar and tell your story of how you bought it etc. Can also be used for insurance. Every record is numbered and time and date stamped on encrypted server
