30th Anniversary SG Custom

So I have been thinking, I am lucky enough to own one of these bad boys, the 1991 30th anniversary SG 3 pick up custom in TV yellow, but I rarely ever see anything about them. Being more knowledgeable on either older gibbys like 60's era and now the newer ones, 2000 onward, I never have really known exactly what's up with this guitar. Is it a custom shop model, it is just Gibson USA, I know they were done in a run of 300, but beyond that I don't know much. I've also been trying to figure out what pickups are in it. I've heard 57 classics, but then I've seen things that said 57's came out in '92. Also as much as I love this guitar, I've heard slightly better tone out of other SG's and I wonder if the pickups in this guitar are in fact leaving a little something to be desired. Also I have never gotten great intonation on this guitar and I'm wondering what I can do to try and fix this. I've had it professionally set up a bunch of times by some really top notch (supposedly) guys, but the problem persists. that said, I love this guitar and any other info that anyone else might have on it would be totally appreciated! thanks guys.

Hi,

Congrats with your sweet monster; I have attached the specifications of this model. The pickups are indeed 57 classics (they were introduced in 1990), and the guitar is from the USA division indeed.

Kind regards,

Stijn

Stijn, thanks for the info! That spec sheet is great to see. So 57 classics, indeed! The sheet said the pickups have special wiring. Any idea what that means? Also I've always wondered about the combonations of the pick ups from the treble to the middle to the bass positions. I've alwas assumed it was bridge, bridge, middle and finally neck. Is that right?

Also any idea on the intonation? The frets are pretty worn, definitely have the divits in them from years of pushing down on those strings. Could a fret job or dressing help intonation?

Thanks again!
