brad4d8 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 eBay item #190596354146 is a Korean Epi Howard Roberts that is stamped "used" on the back of the peghead, just below the serial number. I assume it means it was a second. Anybody know if there were very many of these, and were they mostly marked this way for cosmetic reasons? Brad
Barcham Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 The reason could be anything from very minor cosmetic blemishes all the way up to a broken headstock or other serious damage. A company named MIRC is the source of most of the USED stamped guitars found on ebay. http://mircweb.com/restoration-gallery.php
brianh Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 As opposed to a 2ND mark, USED means it was a sales demo and couldn't be sold as new. That being said, the guitar looks to be REALLY USED. http://www.ebay.com/..._fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Barcham Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Actually, Brian, according to their website,MIRC do stamp their rebuilt guitars with USED on the back of the headstock. Just check "step 1" on the following page... http://mircweb.com/quality.php This is a photo of the stamp: But they usually eradicate the serial number and replace it with their own. The HR on eBay has the original sn on it which suggests that it would fit your explanation of a sales demo guitar.
damian Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Why would anyone buy a guitar with only four strings ????? :-k .......
