geckobaldy Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I have spotted this on ebay. Is it a Gibson with the plastic hookup wire? I bought one similar in the 70s from London on the basis it was a Gibson but there are doubters amongst my friends. I would appreciate anyones comments and any eye witness accounts.Thankshttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390187431579?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
damian Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 IMO it's real..............IMHO, I see no reason to pay anywhere near that price though.......
Angellus Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 from what i can find gibson did use this plastic wire in the early 70's so that matches his date of 72, below is a link to another website with the same wire http://www.eddievegas.com/store/details/1970%27S-GIBSON-T_TOP-HUMBUCKER-Vintage.php my 2001 SG had black plastic. 2008 trad had vintage braided the embossed Gibson appears genuine too comparing it to other examples I have seen to be honest, I have no reason to doubt if they are Genuine or not, Personally I wouldnt pay that much for the embossed logo stamped on the front its not my taste but thats my oppinion
duane v Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I have two original 72 pups with embossed gibby logos and original surrounds sitting in my parts box, and I would never sell them for that much .....Right now I'm looking for a Norlin Gibby 335 project to throw them in
