Ledguitar73 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 What amps will work well for bringing out that classic explorer tone? NOT an amp for metal, more like classic rock.
carv3r Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Fender Deville, Fender blues Delux, both of these will bring out that late 50's early 60's tone you are lookin for, more leaning towards the Blues Delux have fun playing man,.
Versatile Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Several options.... Fenders...yes... Also Vox AC30 like the Stones, Beatles, The Edge et al.... Various Laneys And Marshalls Maybe focus on favourite players and then interweb what they use..... V
ics1974 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 My Explorer sounds great with my Marshall DSL 50
carv3r Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 DSL 50? thats a JCM 2000, wrong picture perhaps?
Archer of Fish Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Any quality amp that lets the guitar'a natural tone speak. I use Blackstar, ENGL, Dr Z and Fender amps.....all let my explorer sound like an explorer and my other guitars sound like their acoustic selves.
Archer of Fish Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 DSL 50? thats a JCM 2000, wrong picture perhaps? The DSL 50 is part of the JCM 2000 range
anaconda Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Lets not forget a great american made amp. the Peavey classic's try youtube and see what guys are using on the explorers
Coolaxeman Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I can thoroughly recommend Bugera V55HD and matching cab if your budget is tight (about 390Euros from Thomann). I use this half-stack alongside a Fender Blues Deville (I use a buffered ABY box to split the signal to both amps) where I set the Fender to be clean and the Bugera to be slightly dirty. I put the FX loop through the Fender as it gives a nice clean glistening sound for delay etc. I have the Bugera's on-board reverb set at about half-way. My Explorer Pro sounds extremely sweet playing through this rig.
Archer of Fish Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I have a lot of amps that work with my explorer, my Diezel VH4 and ENGL Morse are great. It also sounds nice through my Blackstar 45 watt combo. I quite like the sound of this guitar into my Dr Z Max 38 and my old Peavey C 30 Your tone is about you as much as the guitar.
carv3r Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 The DSL 50 is part of the JCM 2000 range yup totally right,. i think i was thinking about the tsl 60..
Twiz Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Lets not forget a great american made amp. the Peavey classic's... +1. Especially if you're on a budget. I got my Classic 50 (head and 4X10 version) on Craigslist for $300. I get a great classic rock sound out of mine (think kinda like AC/DC), and the clean sound is really fantastic. If you're not into the Peavey Classic, I'd recommend looking for a tube amp, maybe 50 watts max, in either a 2X12 combo version, or head and cab version. Currently I've been kinda really obsessing over the Vox AC30. -I got a Vox practice amp (AC4TV) last month, and I really like it. Just be careful in your quest. Tone chasing is an addictive, and potentially expensive endeavor! Cheers.
