onewilyfool Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 It almost brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it........
E-minor7 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Keith does his best here - and gets away with it. In fact I never heard him sing like a singer like he does here. . . And let us send a thought to the Sweetheart of The Rodeo album.
AnneS Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Me, too...no matter who's singing it, or even if I'm just hearing it my head. Not long ago, I re-connected with an old flame...and back in the day, he brought and taught me many a fine song--including this one. So when we first spoke on the phone after almost 35 years, I was telling him I'd just come back from a quick run to the airport down in South Carolina. As if no time at all had passed, he asked "Were there many tall pines?" Powerful stuff, this music we carry around- "It makes me feel better, each time it begins..." Last Saturday, Gram would've turned 65--
Lotus Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Beautiful song indeed. First version I heard was of Joan Baez and this one is still me favorite.
Scratch47 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Enjoyable way to start the day with my cuppa Joe. Nice post; thanks...
jdd707 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Wonderful song .... thanks for posting... love the J50 (mid 60s?) and the Nudie style outfit! Comes 2nd only to Grievious Angel IMHO.
MissouriPicker Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Very cool song. Always has been. Several good renditions of it have been done, but this is my favorite.

Here is a version by some kids from Palo Alto..Their Dad is playing bass and is a local music teacher for Mando and Fiddle.....was an original member of the Gryphon Quintet...pretty good for some young-uns!!
jt Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Agreed. It's as lovely a song as has ever been written. Gram was a talented guy.
