onewilyfool Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Just take that old axe, and play it in your bathroom.....trust me, you won't believe the acoustic enhancement!!! Please...share your experience!!!
Eyecon Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Went outside to the Port-O-John.. no difference. Kidding aside.. instant reverb from tile.
jt Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I have an even better suggestion: have Tommy Emmanuel lend a a helping hand, ... or two:
j45nick Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 When I was in college, we used to go into the fire stairwells in the dormitory to play. Same effect. Hard walls, hard floors, no ceiling.
j45nick Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I have an even better suggestion: have Tommy Emmanuel lend a a helping hand, ... or two: I was wandering around in San Diego last night (lots of bars with live music, by the way: of course, I'm only going into bars for the music, never the beer....) and saw a poster for a Tommy Emmanuel concert. Unfortunately, it's in February, so I assume he's doing a US tour.
L5Larry Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Back in the days of my EARLY home recording (Nixon was President), we used to put vocalist and/or harmonica player in the bathroom. Great natural reverb. We'd then isolate the amps in bedrooms or closets, plug in long cords and thrn stand in the room with the drummer. We'd run this all through a couple of Shure M-268 mixers for a live stereo mix to cassette. We thought we were ROCK STARS. Actually many of the tapes turned out pretty good.
zombywoof Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hell, I just hand my guitar to somebody else and it always sounds better.
Morkolo Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 A few drinks does it for me, I relax and play twice as good as normal and after a few more I won't hear any mistakes.
grampa Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I learned Stairway in a starwell in the building that the college radio station was in, around 1972 or '73.
larryp58 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I have an even better suggestion: have Tommy Emmanuel lend a a helping hand, ... or two: That's a better suggestion than OWF's! I know this will work!
stevens43 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 haha the helping hand definitely beats the axe. That's probably making your acoustic guitars sound a thousand times better.
Nick Beach Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I tried it. But I live in a dorm with a public bathroom, so it was kind of hard to hear an improvement in tone because I was too busy talking to the people repeatedly asking me, "what the f*** are you doing?"
jt Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I did two weekend workshops with Tommy at Jorma's Fur Peace Ranch (highly recommended). I couldn't resist having that pic taken.
