irishdazzler Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Just came across this little thing on eBay surely it cant be real at this price? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GIBSON-LES-PAUL-50s-TRIBUTE-WORN-HONEYBURST-UPGRADED-HARDWARE-AND-PICKUP-/140629958576?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item20be32dfb0#ht_1891wt_1396
Tim Plains Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Too good to be true? Full retail is $850 in the US.
BigKahune Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 . Let's see: £700 is about $1115 - As R9 pointed out - more expensive than the MAP here in the States. The seller has modded it with an SD 90 (~$95) in the bridge, and Foley aged knobs and switch tip ($32). Also the leads have been rewired so the pups out of phase (DIY). Does that make the seem more fair? That price is high by $250+, but the seller spent less than $150 in new parts.
pippy Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Ah....but this is England, you must remember. We can only dream of the prices you lot pay over there. Have you any idea how much a '59 re-issue costs? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/gibson-custom-shop-1959-les-paul-standard-iced-tea/18895 That works out as $7,257. P.
BigKahune Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 . Of course, I yield to Pippy's home base knowlege. . B) So Pippy - I take it that's a good price for the UK (?)
LarryUK Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I paid £750 for mine. So that's on the button. You lucky Yanks get them cheap'
JellyWheat Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 It's worth how many pounds of WHAT, you say??? Sheesh! J/W
AlanH Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 But you can get a brand new one from Thomann for £600, delivered: http://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_lp_studio_60s_tribute_whcsb.htm Mods or not, that's an optimistic price for a used Tribute. Alan
irishdazzler Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 it does seem that we are the pay pot that keeps the Gibson pension fund nicely topped up over here damn you all Gibson :)
Angellus Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 it does seem that we are the pay pot that keeps the Gibson pension fund nicely topped up over here damn you all Gibson :) yeah that price is pretty fair for here in the UK £700 with the mods and its second hand. I personally woud expect to pay a little less
