OK: I prefer a Les Paul to the SG. I find the SG too "whippy" for me. I seem to pull them out of tune because the neck flexes more than the fat-necked Les Pauls I prefer. Also, that teensie-weensie neck/body interface doesn't stay in tune well for me when I heat it up with my belly fat!

IMO, SGs are better for playing the kind of 'music' where it doesn't matter that much if you are in tune as long as you whirl yer arms around while yer playin'! ;)

I always seem to get more versatility out of a Les Paul. But I love my SG because it is just light, thin, mean and nasty! If ya wanna rock, and rock hard....the SG! But if you need to do just about everything, the Les Paul is the way to go! :)

That's me: Sporting an SG, flailing my arms, jumping, rolling in broken glass, and generally putting on a show for the whole place. Come see me play and you will be entertained whether you want to be or not.

Les Pauls are killer guitars and I will own one some day (with mini humbuckers or P-90s). For now it is my SGs and tons of pent up energy.

I prefer my SG. During the second set, my back is killing me with the LP.

[confused] When you play the LP... is it the weight of the guitar or the Lederhosen that gets to yer back?

[Just wondering!]

[ [confused]Do SG players have to shave their legs when they wear their Lederhosen to gigs? :-k ]

I gotta go SG here. Mine is my main guitar and just generally speaking I have never been able to get on the Les Paul wagon. Something about the shape of that guitar just does not jive well with me. It's awkward when sitting and, to me, hard to reach the upper registers when standing up. It's also so heavy, it feels very laborious to play that guitar for me. I don't know, for me my SG is really versatile. I can get all kinds of tones from it, great cleans, raunchy dirty and crazy psychedelic fuzz. It even gives me a warm jazzy sound, but I think that's mostly my amp, an old blackface fender.

I like LPs...i reeally want a silverburst (fingers croseed)

There are a couple of big wind farms near where I live. Rumor has it they're making BIG SG cutouts to mount on the pylons. Then they're gonna attach Mickey Mouse hands to the ends of the propellers. The farm generates electricity, so they're gonna call it "DC/AC", for the sake of accuracy... OH! And the color of the cutouts will be (you guessed it!):

SILVERBURST!
