Denis57 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXivhZmNKzM&feature=related Hope yo'll all enjoy this historical video. Too bad it's not the actual soundtrack, still a nice song.
E-minor7 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Captivating footage from what must be Olympia Studios. At first I didn't hear it as Jagger. But what a thrill to see those Gibsons in action. The Birds must be approx. 3 years old. They are so new – and check the cherry-bursts and Jones' pants. Everything was young then – everything, , , except the J-200 model and of course Mister Bill Wyman.
dubstar Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 footage was shot by Jean Luc Godard for "One Plus One", which is available on DVD titled "Sympathy for the Devil" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xd29c5_the-rolling-stones-sympathy-for-the_music great film, but if you're not familiar with Godard's more political work, it might throw you...
E-minor7 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Apart from the Stones scenes, I remember the film as a hat full of holes and the wind blowing. . . .
veggieryan Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 its gold for hummingbird fans like me...
struma6 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Pretty cool clip! I love the song!! Don't shoot me but I think the 'bursts on all 3 of those guits look horrible. No gradation and a HUGE center burst. But, that's just me, I'm sure folks really dig 'em!

No gradation and a HUGE center burst. But, that's just me, I'm sure folks really dig 'em! These hues of Bird-burst aren't my favorites either. What's fantastic is the evidence of how they actually looked back then. Does anyone remember the times when cheap copies of this design were everywhere. . . They were seen in every third teenage chamber during the early/mid 70's. I - by the way - never had a Hummingbird-copy, but a yellowburst pretty good Ibanez J-200 clone. Sold it to my then guitarist, who 15 years later went bananas and sat the thing on fire . Huge talent totally wasted. Frankly made Keith look like a boy-scout. Left the planet early - may peace be with him. . . .
struma6 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 My best friend and playing partner had a Japanese HB copy exactly like you described!! It was a very very nice planter. I recall the days when it was FLOODED with Japanese imports of electric and acoustic guitars. I know they're flooded now but I mean the el-cheapo barely playable variety. I knew guys who wore them slung on their backs as an accessory, they didn't play a note. Good times, good times!!!
gijs Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Nice vid! Funny also how nice some of the 60s Birds have become over the years. To me as well the bursts in this vid look dead ugly. Like Martin's CEO6 :-) But if these bursts aged so nicely, what will become of my modern Birds's burst? We'll see...
ParlourMan Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I'd say they're a bit too red for me, amazing how they've aged though
