Aged Cherry

If what you're talking about is (and keep in mind I've yet to see one in person so I'm only going by some scant pic availability online) the darker, NON-faded, almost "wine red" like you actually see on well-kept mid-to-late 60's SG's, I tend to agree with you. The "Faded Cherry" color never has looked right, and the only vintage examples I've seen that come close are faded to that orangey-tan color due to sun exposure, whereas cared-for instruments (such as my '65 Standard) retain their true RED middle-of-the-road shade of cherry red, and I've seen a lot of later 60's models which have a slightly "warmed" look to them where the cherry becomes almost a garnet type darker red, sorta' what they did on the original "Angus" signature model, and also somewhat on the CS Krieger model. Although I'd love to see big-G REALLY capture the "as-new" true CHERRY red finish the originals sported, I dig the "aged" cherry a lot more than the "faded" cherry myself, because not only is it more attractive now, but in the future I see it looking a lot nicer than what the "new" faded-finished ones will look like once they've naturally aged a little, if that makes sense.
