Kylef Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Some of you may remember I had a hard time tracking one of these down, especially in the Sunburst. Then after talking to a nice guy Juan Carlos on here about a Custom Ronnie Wood he had built through Fuller's, he recommended i get in touch with them to see what they could do for me and my GAS for a J-150. Well, I'm glad he did, as I ordered one. 12 weeks later and shes here. I am very impressed and happy with it, she really is a cracker! The smell has to be the best part, being fresh from the factory. Pure New Guitar Smell. Last year I bought my dream guitar, a Gibson ES-355 custom shop reissue, so to get my dream acoustic this year is just immense. On with the pics. The pics that Fullers sent: And now shes here (Fullers must have had some lighting on it, as it doesnt look the same through my camera) Hanging out with some friends:
BigKahune Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 . Beautiful. It's got a pretty dark F/B and I love the look with the unbound F/B and headstock. Congrats. . B) Nice group you got there . . . . oooh - a White Falcon. These 150 have gotten pretty popular around here. Quite a few 200 and 150 purchases this year.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I'm glad everyting worked out . It looks great . and I am positive it plays like a dream too :D. And I have to say I am very happy for you . and excited that Jeremy got it right. enjoy Kyle :)
EuroAussie Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I remember you were planning to get a custom one done, great to hear she finally arrived ! Looks a treat, love the burst on her, Im sure she sounds just great. Im loving my Gibson J-150 aslo, recorded a track with my Mrs thats currently posted on the page. Out of curiosity, did you pay a J-150 price or the full monty, as lets admit it, the J-150 is the J-200 but just minus the neck and headstock binding ? Enjoy !
moej45 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 That guitar is a TREAT. wow....that is an awesome looking gibson. Ha...looking at these guitars just never gets old to me
E-minor7 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Hundred hip hurrahs. The guitar looks proud and does well without the bindings. Better stand up because I 'm sitting here falling for it, , ,
struma6 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 THAT is a gorgeous guitar!!!! Congrats and enjoy the heck out of it!!!
vourot Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Thats one of the niceest looking guitars I have ever seen. Well done !
Jack6849 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Style... tasteful, from top to bottom. A "Class Axe"... Looks like it was well worth your wait. Gibson acoustics have such great individual personality from guitar to guitar. Have a great time playing it, Jack6849
Jinder Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 That's a mouthwateringly beautiful guitar. Truly, nobody can execute a 'burst as perfectly as Gibson. How does she sound? Is there a particular reason why you wanted a 150 rather than the 200? I must confess she looks more than pretty enough without the neck and 'stock binding. Hugely classy guitar.
Kylef Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Apart from being alot more affordable, and the fact a couple of my infuences use a J-150, I grew to love it. I like the lack of neck binding, it just looks 'different', and I love the look of the tulips, which I think takes away from the bare neck. Searching through different pics of J-150's compared to the 200's, I decided I liked the 150 better....the fact it was cheaper was a bonus i suppose! Spent a good bit of time with her last night. Every time I walk in the room its in the smell of the laquer still hits you...think im addicted! Havent had much of a go with it electrified, so still to see how the built in pickup is sounding. Not got a gig for a bit which is disappointing, so im going to make sure it gets plenty use in the studio for a bit and ill post the results.
Kylef Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Must ask actually, I havent yet found out what pickup Gibson are putting in their acoustics nowadays? Also, what string guage do Gibson send out on their acoustics as these seem pretty light?
