jannusguy
ballcorner's profile signature line: "No petty competition lists required here. I have all the stuff they can't afford." for those of us who happily list our collections in our profiles, i suppose it's good to know where we rank in the eyes of one of our forum "mates". TheLiveSoundGuy
Well I have a shallow body Ovation Elite. I like it well enough plugged in, but prefer a full hollow body sound of a good Gibby.
TWilson
I think that was just one of Ballcorners misquided attempts at humor. He has tons of guitar knowledge and I've learned a lot from most of his posts. But, God love him, he's just humor-challenged! As to my list, hell, I couldn't afford the ones I do have but still want at least one more!! lol
Gilliangirl
Well, I guess that's Ballcorner's take on what those lists mean. I never considered a list of guitars as a show of 'mine's bigger than yours'. I always considered them a jumping off point for discussion, which is what we do here on a forum (the whole purpose). 'Oh, hey _____, you've got a Martin backpacker? How you liking that..... I was going to buy one of those', or 'Hey _______, I used to have a such-and-such like the one in your sig line. Geez, I miss that guitar.' ETC. Ballcorner can interpret those lists any way he wants, I guess, but I respectfully disagree that they're meant as a pissing match (pardon my crudeness). suburude63
I agree that Ballcorners take on humor is less than what ever! Lets keep it light though. Heck talk about lack of humor! I have received 2 e mails this morning questioning my buying and or selling on another list I wont mention any names. Hell yes I will "UOMF" where there asking me because I have bought and sold 5-6 guitars lately although nothing has sold on their list ever! mostly on e bay. whether I am a dealer? I am not I am just a guy who has not found the Holy Grail of guitars :-) Actually I have in one Gibson TV J45 Special Ed. and I am hoping the Rosewood beauty I just bought the, AJ Supreme. It ticked me off as the question was what id call less than amiable! These Ma**in Moderators have no sense of humor! I am seeing day by day why I gave up Chardonnay and starting drinking Knob Creek!! :-) suburude

ksdaddy
I would be constantly updating my signature list, both adding and subtracting. FWIW, I would never judge anyone by the length of their list. I may have a pile of guitars but my computer (with dialup) is going on 7 years old and the newest thing in my driveway is my wife's '94 Explorer I bought 1-1/2 years ago for $600 (which is half a used Hummingbird, OUCH!). John Lee Walker
I don't see how anyone could derive someone's guitar list as 'petty'. I think it's cool to see everyone's guitars on their signature. I don't see it as competitive in any way whatsoever. As someone else mentioned, it's also a good conversation topic at times. As musicians we all take pride in our instruments and equipment, and we're always curious as to what someone else may be using, or playing, or hanging on their walls. I say keep those lists up there! And update them when you acquire something new! It's good fodder for inquiring minds like me:)
TheLiveSoundGuy
I've got a Squier my list, and I'M DAMN PROUD OF IT! Seriously, like I stated in another thread, "We don't mean nothin' by it, we just like to bust balls once in a while." I personally don't think Ballcorner is really trying to imply anything in his sig line either. Like the rest of us, he just likes to bust 'em once in a while himself. It's all good. retrorod
Hmmm...Maybe not. BUT, with the economy being sluggish and people being tight for money, ball-bustin' could very well be an inexpensive past-time!

Johnt
Thanks Johnt' date=' glad to have you back and jabbing! ( I'll be changing my signature soon. I'm going to see if Ballcorner will loan me one of his.) Is that you in your new avater or King Richard?[/size'] Terry, with you pechant for very strange looking ladies in your avatars, I am shocked that you failed to recognise The bearded lady from Guildford. The avatar is "mon homage" to all hirsuite bag ladies everywhere! (Or I stumbled over a vaguely amusing pic on Google images if you prefer) I am sorry about my poor attendance. Due to the incompetent bungling of politicians especially the fabulous Blair, Bush and Brown, we are suffering a slight problem here in UK. Its called a credit crunch, you US guys wouldn't have heard of it as long as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lend you money you're ok. ( Streuth Guys, How does a bank get called Fanny Mae, something to do with Ms West's butt?) The rest of the world has to work! which takes me to the point. I received this in my inbox this morning. VIRUS ALERT +++++++++ A dangerous virus is going around. It is called Work. If you are unfortunate enough to receive work from your boss or any one else.... Do NOT touch it"! This virus will wipe our your life completely. If you should come into contact with work , go straight to the nearest pub and order the only antidote, which is called "beer" Ho hum I AM easily amused! PS Nice one Gary! I read your list 3 times before I realised you cut and pasted it! Insanity comes quietly to the structured mind! BR John
