Psypost Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 so it`s my first Gibson and i`d like to put P-90 into neck and bigsby but P-90 is smaller? is it real ? and what model of bigsby should i use& i think about B-5 thanks
BigKahune Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 . Welcome Gibson makes a P90 that fits in a humbucker route - the P-94 - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibson-p94r-neck-pickup And yes, B5 .
Psypost Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Thanks so P-94 will give nice jazzy sound, yeah ?
BigKahune Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 . I like the sound/tone options with a neck 90. Some don't like the look of the 94s. There are other makers like BG - http://www.bg-pups.com/h90.html So you get a look at the 94 - here's my LP with the neck 94 -
Psypost Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 no matter how it looks first of all i need nice jazzy sound) and your les paul looks pretty nice! i only wonder if there any problems with delivery from ebay or something else, `cause i don`t think that some of them are sold in Odessa
Psypost Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 here is one more question what can you tell about SH-2 Jazz neck pickup by Seymour Duncan ?
AlanH Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 here is one more question what can you tell about SH-2 Jazz neck pickup by Seymour Duncan ? It's not so hot and has crystal clear cleans so it's great for Jazz and for clean passages in metal music. The flip side is that its not a PAF style pickup so is not as good as something like the Seymour Duncan '59 for bluesy type stuff, although you won't get any muddiness. Check out my youtube vid below to hear it vs. an Epi neck pickup.
Psypost Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 well, i`m thinking about something like thathttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Seymour-Duncan-Phat-Cat-SPH90-1N-Neck-Pickup-PU-5146-/270855797236?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item3f104379f4 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seymour-Duncan-SH-2n-Jazz-Model-Neck-Zebra-/170405033804?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item27acee774c and want to put a cover onto my stock sg`s special faded bridge i think i will bring some softness, am i right ?
EVOL! Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 . Welcome Gibson makes a P90 that fits in a humbucker route - the P-94 - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gibson-p94r-neck-pickup And yes, B5 . P-94 in the neck position is very nice. It can be jazzy with some tone knob twirling. On my SG it gets a Jazzmaster like tone with the volume and tone knobs wide open:
bobouz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 . So you get a look at the 94 - here's my LP with the neck 94 - I have this exact same mod (neck P94) pending for my Desertburst '03 Studio Plus. Will get to it one of these days. The SD Phat Cat is also well regarded. Either of these options should get the OP closer to a jazz tone, and of course amp/speaker combinations are a major factor.
Pukeblud Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 here is one more question what can you tell about SH-2 Jazz neck pickup by Seymour Duncan ? I have the jazz pickup in the bridge of my paul, and I love it. Great clean tones. I also have a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat in the bridge position of my SG, and I'm happy with it as well. I'm obviously no expert, I mostly play heavy stuff but the Phat Cat is something to consider if you want a P-90 sound. Also, why not just buy an SG already fitted with soapbars, if thats what you want?
