dougjeffries Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I have an acquaintance who tells a story of buying a new 24 fret Gibson SG in 1962 or 1963. He said it was purchased at McMurray Music in St Louis MO. It was stolen in the early 1970s and he was wondering if there is any way to trace this instrument. Unfortunately, he does not know the serial number of the guitar. I know it is a total shot in the dark, but I would at least like to verify such a guitar even existed. I have searched the internet and can only find a reissue SG with 24 frets. No sign of a vintage model from the 1960s. Thank you for any information you might have to offer. I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. If not, sorry.
StijnV Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Hi, I have not heard of such a model, but it could of course have been a custom order. It is indeed quite a shot in the dark however, as the serial number is very important in such cases.
dem00n Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 It's possible, Gibson we're know for doing crazy custom requests...just look at Elvis guitar.
