onewilyfool Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I hav a standard 5/16 hex screwdriver that I normally use for adjusting truss rods. This is a no-name hardware type...the problem is....that the thickness of the driver around the hex part is too "fat" to allow me to insert it on my L-7 to give the neck some relief. Is there a specis "guitar" hex driver that has thinner sides that I can get? Any advice??? Thanks...Wily
rar Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I hav a standard 3/16 hex screwdriver that I normally use for adjusting truss rods. Anyway, if you don't want to invest in a special purpose truss rod wrench -- StewMac has a nice one for $9 that will fit in just about any case compartment -- you need to invest in a "thin wall" socket and a driver. Rumor has it such sockets can be found in finer hardware stores, but I've never actually seen one. (And I have looked, locally at OSH and at the Lowes in Athens OH.) -- Bob R

I've got one with a screwdriver head on the handle that allows me to unscrew those tiny wood screws on the trussrod cover ... you know, the ones I drop into the carpet and spend 15 minutes looking before I find it, or the dog does. Anyway two tools for the price of one. I've often wondered why Gibson doesn't ship trussrod tools with new guitars. That's probably wise now that I think about it.
