Back in the game

Gibson NGD.

 

Well.... I'm pleased to be back before the Gibson Mast...bought a new Advanced Jumbo 1930's reissue(?) vintage unit . Not sure really what this is officially called. And....Don't know all that much about it....nor did the salesmen in the shop. Oddly...I see no specs on the Gibson.com site...all else but no 1930's Rosewood Advance Jumbo.

 

I only just now noticed that the nut, and saddle appear to be plastic. (?) and they ...on this one anyway slanted the bridge deck..tapred down to the high E side. uncompensated saddle. Hoping this is on purpose and not an oops....never saw this before.

 

But...I have to do a set up anyway...so plastic parts ( if they are) .... will disappear, no prob.

 

All in all a really nice guitar...would love to find a spec sheet for this particular guitar, if anyone has a clue.

 

I bought it at the Music Emporium, outside Boston. Really GREAT shop...good people. Recommended.

This was a 5 Star Dealer....but doesn't look like the Anniversary, that I can see. Rosewood finger board. and the price was not at the Luthier's Choice level.

While Gibson generally uses the terms like vintage and reissue pretty loosely, if it is an oops it is a good oops. Gibson's rectangular bridges were originally made a tad thicker on the low side. Personally, I think the rectangular bridges were the best design Gibson used.
