AAA Top on New Standards?

Does anyone know if Gibson is going to make a premium plus version with a AAA grade on the 2008 (or later) models? I recently got a Les Paul Standard Premium Plus just before it was discontinued and I love the finish (see link below). Just wondering if Gibson had any plans to bring back that top again...

premium plus is referring to the AAA top. Theres a regular Gibson Les Paul Standard with an AA grade maple top and theres a Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus with an AAA grade maple top. The only difference between the two is that the Premium Plus models have a slightly fancier flame top on them.

Yep I know that. I was just wondering if they are going to be building a Premium Plus anymore or a Standard with a AAA top (don't know how they're going to call it now with the new models). Thanks...

how sweet would it be with the option of plain top , aa flamed top and aaa flamed top, i guess it would have to be a perfect world then. i love an iced tea or faded tobacco in a plain top and i love a cherry sunburst in a AAA top. honeyburst in a AA top and the goldtops in an amazing AAAAAAA top < it was a joke

The only difference with both guitars, Standard and Standard Premuim Plus, it`s just de AAA Maple top??? is there any sound difference?? cause the Grade of the Maple top it´s something like How Flame it is the top, and it is not about the sound. So i guees both guitar should sound just great.

Yes, from what I understand. My Premium Plus is an '08 with a chambered body. I have an '04 Standard with weight relief holes and I do notice a difference in the sound between the two (neither is better though, it's just different). The wood for the tops are identical, so a chambered Premium Plus should sound exactly like a chambered Standard.

One thing I never understood is why the Premium Plus only came in a 50's style neck. Also, the price difference is about $400, which is a lot for a AAA finish over a AA finish in my opinion. Luckily I got my brand new for a lot less than a regular Standard (it helps to shop around!). I have seen that some dealers have jacked up the price even more on the Premium Plus these days, probably because it is a discontinued model.

I can't imagine that Gibson has run out of AAA wood. Maybe they weren't selling as much as they had hoped??
