El Giablo Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I have a L6S Custom, with an ebony fretboard and dot inlays. The serial number is 700801. Which is stamped on the headstock. I got it from the original owner, with the original warranty card. It also shows the same serial number. Purchased for $499 +$89, on 10/04/75. The problem is, that serial number = a manufacture date of '70 - '72. There are no signs of damage or repair to the guitar. I thought maybe it could be an early '73 model. But those had block inlays. Thanks for your help. El G.
j45nick Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I don't see a problem with the suggested manufacture date of '70-'72. An L6S was probably not an overwhelmingly popular guitar at the time, so it could easily have sat around for a couple of years before it was sold.
JimR56 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I don't see a problem with the suggested manufacture date of '70-'72. The model didn't exist in 1970 or '71. It wasn't designed until 1972, and was not actually launched until 1973.
