Rich W Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I started playing in the dark about a year ago and I love it. For me, it helps for getting into a deeper state of concentration and focus. Is anyone else into this?
damian Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'm just learning how to play guitar.....Learned G, D, and C, so, I'm always in the dark................. .....
damian Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I played blindfolded......................until the ransom was paid and they let me go............ .....
Notes_Norton Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Depends on the gig and if the stage is lit or not.
DanvillRob Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Yes.... I play in the dark....but not guitar!

Silenced Fred Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Yup. All of my best songs and stuff are written between 11pm and 3am. My mind is free to wander. The darkness is my drug
BigKahune Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 . How about a mask - And for those cheaters out there, a patch -
krock Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Yup. All of my best songs and stuff are written between 11pm and 3am. My mind is free to wander. The darkness is my drug Im normally busy doing other things from 11-3
zigzag Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I've done a lot of research on this topic, and after many long hours and much trial and error, I have come to the conclusion that it is much easier and safer to simply close my eyes.
roxymusic Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 My wife asked me to play her something on my guitar the other night she then put the lights out and said can you still play, it felt really strange playing a guitar in the dark
vincentw Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 It's a good idea to get used to not seeing the fretboard.
Steven Tari Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I do that when I'm learning new songs. You can get the feel of the song and it helps also feeling out my music as I'm writing the words. I've written some good songs this way. I guess were back at Pre School at the Gibson Forum again.
Sinner 13 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I prefer playing in low light situations.... excessive stage lighting weirds me out.
Andy R Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Im'a Scared of the dark!!! Somethin' might get me!
Tman Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 You know it's strange but I've been doing it since the late 70's. Back then I used to brag that I went to bed with my guitar and it was literal. After a 20 year hiatus of playing, lately I'been doing it again and I enjoy playing acoustic guitar in the dark, problem is I knock the guitar off the bed when I fall asleep.
damian Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Hmmmm.........Come to think of it, darkness surrounded me for my final four months Gibby jamming in the womb....... After I popped out, dang doctor hit me, momma told me she didn't love me, and a nurse stole my Gibby...................... I ain't been the same since...........Darkness is good..................I wanna go home.......... ..........
bonzoboy Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 When I close my eyes I have the illusion of playing in the dark so it's the same thing really.I can't say that it affects my concentration or puts me on another astral plain-a few puffs of the herb can do that lol.
