brad1 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 After I am dead, I don't care what they play. Because I'm dead.
zigzag Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Interesting. I want part, or all, of Mozart's Requiem and the Beatles In My Life among others.
bluesguitar65 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 After I am dead, I don't care what they play. Because I'm dead. LOL!! What if they played this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VRO2TJwkVM
Duende Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 After I am dead, I don't care what they play. Because I'm dead. I almost spat all my diet coke over the screen! That was hilarious Matt p.s yes, that was a 'bazinga'
Duende Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Interesting. I want part, or all, of Mozart's Requiem and the Beatles In My Life among others. Good choices Zigzag !! Although the OP's title wasn't meant literally (it was just a way to share a piece of classical guitar music I love), the choice of funeral songs could be an interesting albeit tongue in cheek thread... After 'Gather Ye Rosebuds' is read - and the vicar has finished a short and poignant speech about making the most of life , maybe The Spice Girls' Spice Up Your Life would be fitting! Matt
zigzag Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Good choices Zigzag !! Although the OP's title wasn't meant literally... Sometimes it is hard for me to get the complete meaning of some posts since I am at work and cannot stream.
zigzag Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Im having "return to sender" played at mine Nominated! That's one of the funniest posts of the year!
Thundergod Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra_xPVmADcI If you outlive me please play that same piece at my funeral. It's amazing. Very relaxing.
Duende Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 If you outlive me please play that same piece at my funeral. It's amazing. Very relaxing. It is, isn't it! The five Bagatelles are the only pieces William Walton wrote for the guitar, but they are absolute gems! Check this out Otton, It is Julian Bream playing Bagatelle no 2. I think you'll love it!
daveinspain Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Wow, loved that, that girl is amazing and very young... Fantastic!
djroge1 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I thought the song "Couldn't Stand the Weather" would be a good song to play at my funeral.
bonzoboy Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 At my funeral I want The Adagio from Mozart's Violin Concerto No.3 in D Maj. and Jimi's Voodoo Child(slight return) and Angel played.
pippy Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Great stuff, Matt. She's an amazing player. I was just as entranced by watching her fingers as I was by the music! And what more can we say about Julian Bream that's not already been said? As far as funereal choices go, the assembled masses for the funeral of an uncle of mine were quite surprised to be ushered in to the accompaniment of this..........it certainly broke the ice! LOL! P.
Versatile Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Lovely bit of playing..... Re funeral....mmmmm difficult choice.... I just cannot decide between.... 'When I'm Dead and Gone'....McGuiness Flint 'Tie my Kangaroo Down Sport'....Rolf Harris... V
milod Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I don't really want any funeral over my carcass. But if if had to be done, Mozart would be fine. Or... Somebody doing McPherson's Farewell or perhaps better Minstrel Boy... As for the Minstrel Boy... consider the words a metaphor for survival in today's world. <grin> And perhaps best to break my guitars for reasons written below... The minstrel boy to the war is gone, In the ranks of death ye will find him; His father's sword he hath girded on, And his wild harp slung behind him; "Land of Song!" said the warrior bard, "Tho' all the world betray thee, One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard, One faithful harp shall praise thee!" The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain Could not bring his proud soul under; The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again, For he tore its chords asunder; And said "No chains shall sully thee, Thou soul of love and bravery! Thy songs were made for the pure and free They shall never sound in slavery!" m

jnastynebr Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 This (not because its dark or mysterious, but because its the greatest piece ever composed by a human person): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6txOvK-mAk Or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkcKSLGVeKc
DAS44 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I have a CD of Wilhelm Kempff playing a few Beethoven Piano Sonatas, he was incredible He was a spectacularly gifted individual, playing an incredible piece. Good stuff
Lungimsam Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Julian Bream's tone is always fantastic. I have only liked his tone and Kazuhito Yamashita's for classical guitar.
