Roberto1973 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Hi, i have a Les Paul that should be a old one, probbably from de middle 70's. It was my grandfhater's but since he's not around anymore can't have much info. the serial number it's a 4 digit number carved into de back of the headstock no prefix, and no other legend. The neck is straigth not in an angle as I see gibsons guitar currently are. Is this an autenthic LP?? help!! The Serial Number it's 3408
Kolera Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Pictures are needed. I have never seen a Les Paul with a headstock without angle.

Roberto1973 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Has it had a neck repair? hi, as I said not too much information about the guitar, but it looks like have not been touch...
Eracer_Team Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Well with the volute on the back of the neck/headstock we can see that its a 70's Norlin era.. Any more shots of the rest of the guitar? Any clear close ups?
Dallastx Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Headstock has been repaired. From the heal near the headstock..70's.
JellyWheat Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Headstock has been repaired. From the heal near the headstock..70's. Good eyes, Dallastx! I see it now, too. [Light reflecting off a break just to the left of the volute...] J/W B)
Angellus Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Good eyes, Dallastx! I see it now, too. [Light reflecting off a break just to the left of the volute...] J/W B) yeah me too, didnt notice it at first good spot!
RedSkwirrell Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I have no reason to doubt it but also no idea of authenticity from the shots. There are things I see that I find interesting. The 'burst' spray is massive, (especially the teardrop on the back) and doesn't seem particularly accurate or delicate. The top appears to be in three sections from one photo, as though it's a through-the-neck. Could you post links to larger shots for more detail? The body top, headstock, and neck inlays would be good.

RedSkwirrell Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Have you ever seen a Norlin Les Paul? No. lol Is that what it is?
dem00n Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 No. lol Is that what it is? Yup, it's a Norlin. See the lines on the side of the body? Thats the pancake body.
rct Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Did I know yer grandfather? Looks like one of two or three or four or so cherry sunbursts I used/owned and broke in them days. Big ol' voluted busted headstock 70's les paul. Prolly weighs a ton and prolly lots of people had a blast playing it. Good luck with it. rct
