bluesguitar65
Messing with recording techniques. Which recording sounds better, with garageband DAW or direct recording with a handheld recorder? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0F4xE9BI28

bluesguitar65
Thanks! Second recording better because not as process sounding or the volume level was just right?
EpiphoneFan1989
Thanks! Second recording better because not as process sounding or the volume level was just right? In my opinion, the second sounds more "authentic". Don´t know, why? But the second is better

davidl
Of the first 2, the second sounds more natural and better in my opinion. The double tracked version has even more depth and is the winner. I'm showing my recording ignorance here but what does double tracked mean? Also, is that an American Special Strat? Very nice. davidl
My link Thanks Epifan. Question answered. It must be quite a challenge playing exactly the same thing with the exact same timing though. Most of my solo playing is not scripted. Andy R
I think they both sound good. I noticed how and what you played changed a bit between the 2 different sounds you were getting. To me this is a good thing different tones, guitars etc.. inspire different playing, technique , songs etc... I'm not sure why people are always after 1 tone ( not saying you are) .... Good stuff! damian
Interesting..............As Andy says, the playing is different on part two......... I liked the sound on #1 better, but the playing better on #2.........Perhaps folks chose #2 more as it's a more 'live' sound.... Yet, once you "processed" sound #2, ie, "live" then "processed", folks liked it best.......Not suprising at all though............... The human ear likes a live sound, but "prefers" a processed sound, ie, double tracked sound.............................................. Anyways, whatever you play and/or record, it always sounds great............
