After too much eavesdropping...

...let me introduce myself. I've been following this message board for quite a while and finally mustered the energy (courage?) to register and post. I'm 54 years old and have been playing guitar for about a year. I was a famous guitarist in my teens, playing a tennis racquet in front of the bedroom mirror to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Neil Young, but didn't embrace guitar reality until I realized I was running out of time. Several years of drums and percussion gave me the confidence to pick up a ukulele, which in turn emboldened me to buy a guitar. I never looked back. Inexpensive student models began to pile up as I went on the quest for the "perfect guitar". A used J-60 introduced me to the Gibson mojo and I now have a decent collection that far exceeds my intermediate gifts and abilities. I have learned a lot from following the expertise displayed on this forum and applaud your individual passion and enthusiasm. Thank you (in advance).

Well, welcome..... glad you finally found the "right deal" with guitars..... you're among friends, and no one is gonna jump up and down on your chest regardless of your questions or abilities.

Thanks guys. This forum has become a lifeline of sorts for me as I live in a secluded area and don't know any local musicians. I have read almost every posting and feel like I kinda know some of the frequent fliers. EA - I have especially enjoyed your video demonstrations and reviews.

Hello TPretender – As you been following the pages, you know how much we'd like to see the J-60.

This forum is like a star. The many tip-points drives towards the middle generating knowledge and smiles.

dChristo - I see you live right down the road from me. Kinda. I'm in Panama City. Unfortunately. :)

yea, its about 100 miles....I was stationed at the Dive school a few years ago, but retired now....anyway what kind of music do you play ????

Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Grateful Dead, 70's singer-songwriters in general + original bombastic drivel. You retired from the U.S. Navy I presume? I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps back in the day.

Welcome to the forum. Usually a really cool place. .....So you have a J60(the bonecrusher). That is pretty cool. I've always been drawn to the big guitars....You're going to be part of a lot of interesting discussions in here. Glad you're here. [thumbup]
