Opinions on 1996 Gibson Hummingbirds

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone could help. I took a chance and bought a 1996 Hummingbird from a guitar center. Did not get her yet but, I talked to the tech of the store and salesperson and was told that it was in great condition and that it sounded good also. Now, I do have 30 days to return it to any store if I'm not satisfied but my question is, was this a good year or were there any major flaws from this year or time period? From the pictures online it looked like it was in good condition aside from the pick guard being a bit run down. Any opinions or feedback would be great. As always, thanks guys.

I used to have a '96 Hummingbird. It was one of the good ones.

It was way better than my '91, which sounded pretty thin and dull.

The mid-90s were pretty dodgy for high quality sound for Gibson acoustics, IMO, so there are no hard and fast rules concerning guitars from that period. I played a lot more dogs than winners from that period.

With a 30-day return period, I can't imagine going wrong, though. I wouldn't hesitate!

I had to, when I wandered in to a store where they had a '53 SJ, which followed me home. [crying]

My reasoning was that there were a lot less early '50s SJs out there than current-production Hummingbirds.....
