I want to cange my Bridge Pickup (and only the Bridge) and use an active EMG instead. Is it possible? And if yes do I have problems when I change just one. I love the sound of my Neck Pickup and want to be more flexible so I thought why not change just one.

My guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Studio 50´s Tribute Humbucker.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Never tried it (never even thought of it, I love my Gibson pickups).

Looking at EMG's website it should be possible, as they have a number of different types and several humbuckers.

I would be concerned that it could screw up the bass/treble setting balance .

Presumably there's some means of compensating for that.

No idea what the sound would be like but, if it's that different, you may need to change the other one as well.

If it's not that different, why change it anyway?

There are plenty of passive pickups out there that sound very similar to an EMG 81. Try a Dimarzio crunch lab.

1 active and 1 passive, it can be done but there will be a difference in the selected pickups tonally and volume.

would be interesting to record the guitar with both respective pickups on passive and active and listen to the mix, but i think the passive will need boosting somehow
