EvoRider Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I have ordered a crate half stack off guitar center it is the Flexwave 120h and the fw412a cab. Has anybody on here use them? My first amp was a crate bx 25 bass amp and it has preformed flawlessy for years my currant amp is a crate gfx 65 and i have only had it for a few months it has worked great. i was useing a marshall mg50 but the gfx was kicking the marshall but in sound and watts. plus you can store the cable and such in the back were the marshall is closed in the back.. I hope i didnt screw up and buy a piece of junk... I was just needing something with a little more sound...
Searcy Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Like i just posted in another thread I have a Crate GTD65 that sat under water for 3 days and still works like a charm. It's loud if I need it to be. It's portable and has the best clean sound of any amp I've ever owned. I'm betting you did OK. By the way, my first real guitar amp was a Crate G600 half stack.

damian Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I used a full stack SS crate in a progressive metal band I had ten years ago.........Worked just fine....Crates can be very good amps....

Searcy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Yeah it's the SCUBA STEVE model.... HA! Actually it's this one that's the Scuba Steve amp. After the flood I tossed it out in my shop for a few weeks and let it dry out. I was shocked a few weeks later when I plugged it in and expected it to be totaled. It's worked perfectly.

You might want to wash it back off[lol] . but seriously that would make a great advertisement for crate amps.
Andy R Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 This is just like my first "Real" Amp... I also had an original Boss Orange distortion pedal and a big ol Electro harmonex Flanger . I thought I was the Shiz Nit!
damian Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 What model was it? I don't remember.....The stack was stolen.....It did have the "Flexwave" inards, and it was 120 S.S. watts.......... Very reliable and good tone for an S.S. amp........

Not sure why i am having to sell some of mine to make the wife happy about the new one that is spose to be here today.. but i would still like to have one.
EvoRider Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Well i finnally got to use it and forund out i bought a peice of junk. But i did buy it used from guitar center. i found a good used Crate fw412A cab. (Works Great sounds great) for $124.00 shipped at guitar center. Now the head is a different story. Found it used at guitar center also for 164.00 shipped when it got here the high gain channel does not work at all unless i mess whith the knob and still cuts in and out.. The included foot switch does not work eather. So i called the GC i bought it from and they want me to take it to the nerest GC to get my money back. Now i did get to try out the amp out and this sounds way better than my old Marshall MG50DFX . Even the overdrive channel sounds better than my boss bd2 and my super overdrive. Let me put it this way i ordered a new Crate FW120H and it will be here today. I LOVE THIS AMP..... this thing sounds amazing has a great clean channed nice fat sound. The effects are not much but i have alot of pedals to take care of that... So if you get a chance to try one out plug in and ROCK The HOUSE.....Not happy with the used amp head and the fact i have to carry about 60 miles to get my money back but o well a good reason to go to Guitar center and see how strong my will is........ I have bought a lot of used stuff from them in the last year and everything has been great. I am just cant belive they didnt try out the old head...
EvoRider Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 well i took both the used and new amp heads back. They took back both amps with no problem. But i now have to wait for my new one to arrive. They have to send the new amp back to the distribution center befor they can resend me a new one. Not sure why they have to do that they could just send me a new one. This sucks..
Searcy Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 How have you managed to buy all the broke Crate amps? That sucks man. I hope the new one is worth the effort.
krock Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I have a blackheart which is made by crate and the build quality on that is pretty good
