EuroAussie Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I run a large ad agency, we are pitching for a huge account ... if we win the business I already told Mrs EA this will be my reward ...
moej45 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Go get it! Running my own recruiting company I know how important it is to reward yourself when you knock one out of the park!
j45nick Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ah, yes, I know that feeling well. My wife encourages my guitar habit, since she knows I work hard to support it, and it makes me happy. It also means she gets what she wants, when she wants it, so it works for both of us. When I brought home my 1947 L-7 last night (she knew I was driving four hours to see it), rather than complain about the additional guitar clutter in my office, she asked if I wanted to build a studio off the patio in the back yard, so I could get them out of the office. Who could ask for more? Reward yourself for a job well done. We only go around once, so we should do what makes us happy whenever possible. But don't forget to reward those that enable us in our habit, while you're at it. This is a two-way street.
BigKahune Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 . Good luck. I hope the 'Bird is in your hand real soon.. B) .
E-minor7 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Exiting news – I'm sure you will see what is meant when I say 'something bigger falls to place' with a Bird in the house. I sincerely hope it happens and look forward to keep the dialogue running about what you experience, , , the guitar opening up and how etc. That is what goes on here and it's a thrill to follow. I carefully listen in and hear that honey-voice develop. It gets softer, sweeter, louder, bassier, still crisp, less tight/restrained. It's becoming a HUMMINGBIRD ! Had to add a pic without the polution in the corner -
EuroAussie Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Well put Nick and yes, I am also super grateful for Mrs EA's attitude to my playing and guitar. She knows this is a good thing for the soul and fully supports it, we are both lucky to have great wives ! Having said that while we are faaar from being materialstic she also knows that it will be a nice bonus from the win and that means more boots, couple new handbags and some more sunglasses which is her real weakness. Still, much cheper than new Gibsons ...;-) Ah, yes, I know that feeling well. My wife encourages my guitar habit, since she knows I work hard to support it, and it makes me happy. EuroAussie Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Well, ill say like this, unless I get fired the HB TV will be mine sooner than later, but I prefer to work hard for the things I get in return, i like the challenge, so i hope it will be on the back of a new business win ... :-) Will keep you posted, this will be a long tender process however, at least 6-8 weeks, so we'll see ! btw: I think this is the most beautiful guitar in the world, i can just stare at it all day. Like you are in love with the honey burst Im in love with the dark cherry burst. E-minor7 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Mine is the dark cherry (I like both), but the seller polished off some of the VOS satin. I did put on a brass tr-cover to take it all the way (didn't want the H-bird word there). Have Martin Flex Core '12's on and they work good. The guitar fills the room - it's delicious – I eat it every day. . .
larryp58 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Good luck to ya, EA! Can't wait to see a [pic of you holding that 'Bird!
onewilyfool Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Euroaussie....do you speak Czeck language? Interesting path for aussie guy....good luck on you pitch AND on the guitar!!!

There's a reason why Ive been here for amost 8 years now ;-) Euroaussie....do you speak Czeck language? Interesting path for aussie guy....good luck on you pitch AND on the guitar!!!
onewilyfool Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Wily, have you seen how Czech women look like and how Czech beer tastes ? There's a reason why Ive been here for amost 8 years now ;-) Good point!!!!
MissouriPicker Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Good luck with "the bird." I hope you get it, and get it soon. Great to have a good spouse/other half that understands/tolerates/encourages our guitar addictions. There are certainly worse addictions.
J-1854Me Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Well if it isn't Robi Johns! I may be in the minority, but I dislike the "thirty-years-of-smudges" finish that are used on many of the "vintage recreations". It would be nice if they would bother to get some of the other details right instead of issuing the dirty finish look. (IMO) In any case (no pun intended) I am sure it will be a nice addition, Mr EA! Fred
BluesKing777 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I've got to say firstly - good luck with account, BUT.... ....the whole scheme sounds a bit like the Griswalds Xmas, so the obvious solution would be to JUST BUY the Hummingbird (TV?) anyway! Isn't that the Gibson Forum way? Don't bounce too many Czechs! BluesKing777.
Denis57 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I run a large ad agency, we are pitching for a huge account ... if we win the business I already told Mrs EA this will be my reward ... Although I'm extremely happy and in love with my Honey H-Bird (my 14 years old son says I'm addicted , if I ever get a big sum one day, a custom TV blonde H-Bird will be mine and oh yes, by the way, whish you all the best EA in getting this sweet TV H-Bird.
