The price is actually about right. If the guitar is being sold new with factory warranty by a dealer for $4500 (as stated in the listing), paying $3600 for the same guitar, sold without a factory warranty, would be about 20% less than the same guitar with a warranty. That makes sense. If the seller of the guitar were an authorized dealer, he would say so. "New other" on ebay generally means an unused or virtually unused guitar sold be someone other than an authorized dealer.

Gibson master luthier Ren Ferguson made 16 J-35s.

True ? if yes, why are top rate master's handmades so inexpensive ?

What do you think of one on ebay ?

if you have the money and they ship to Hong Kong . I would buy it . you can't be let down by the work of Ren Ferguson .

Fuller's guitars told me he uses vintage guitar making tecniques from the 40's and 50's . Hide Glue and he has a unique way of testing the woods

for sound qualities . So if you got the money I would get it :) .

Good luck

I heard that Fuller's J-35 is great. Is it available now ? how much ? where ?

I'm sure those J 35's are just as great as this one that has appeared on ebay :) .

I'm not sure there are any left from Fuller's . but I'm sure the one on ebay is just as great :D

Thank you all

But I'v got a HD-28. so I prefer a sunburst ! so i'm considering Fuller's J-35. I just emailed Fuller's, he said only one is available ! unlucky... no room to pick from. What if it should not be as great ?

I believe that Ren didn't completely build these himself, but he did build the tops. (Read the letter carefully: it does not say "I hand-built these", but that these were "hand-built in my shop".) The price of these J-35s is about the going rate for a "Custom Shop" guitar with a Ren-built top (which is an upgrade well worth the price, IMHO). You're right that a guitar completely hand-built by Ren -- if you could even get him to do it -- would cost much more.

most of the time Ren does not build the sides or back . just the top and the bracing on the top .but who know you might get lucky and did the back on the ebay one too . :D

he does do the final assembly himself though
