Danner Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I like to hear y'all's opinion. With gift-receiving time upcoming, I've been dreaming about adding a second Gibson. Since my SJ is a mahogany round shoulder with tobacco sunburst, I was thinking that a rosewood square shoulder would be a nice change. Plus, the SWDS is blond wood with an ebony fretboard, gold tuners, and all that. Any opinions or comments most welcome. Dan
Danner Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Kudos on using the correct spelling of "complement". How does one engineer selective "gift receiving"? By paying for it by one's self
drathbun Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I adore the look and sound of my SWD. The ebony fingerboard is stunning with those double parallelograms. I think you're dead on to complement the sound of your SJ. I've done the same thing in reverse; I bought the SWD first, then added the SJ200 Natural to the Gibson corral. The contrast is very nice and both of them get played a lot.
EuroAussie Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 The SWD would certainly be a good complement to the SJ, works for me. The tone is vastly different and its a joy swapping between the two, they really are apples and oranges and having a larger fruit basket is always good to ones health.
