deepblue Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I just got an e-mail...My virtuoso polish & cleaner have arrived. Im off to pick it up after dinner. Im afraid...im very afraid! If I screw this up boys ill never forgive myself. Tim has sent me instructions on the does and donts, but sometimes I have a hard time boiling water... Wish me luck...
SRV-Zeppelin Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 deepblue, if you can't handle making Kraft Dinner, perhaps this is an undertaking you should leave to a professional... ...Good luck. (And please don't post pics if you mess it up... I don't think I could stand that kind of torture.)
ChanMan Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Good Luck!! And I say video tape the whole thing. Will make an excellent tutorial for how to... or how not to :D
Wolff Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Good luck. Let us know when the operation is complete and the patient is resting comfortably.
Tim Plains Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I enjoyed doing it to mine...it was a blast taking everything off and putting it back on. Blue, if you don't have any cotton cloths that you want to rip up, buy one. I cut one into smaller sized squares when I Virtuosoed my two.
vertigoPT Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I hope all goes well! Please post pictures after.
Thundergod Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Good luck man! But in case anything goes sour... you can always post the video "how NOT to do...." Dont worry... everything will be ok.
Bluemoon Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Why take everything off? You can still make it shine without removing the hardware.
surfpup Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Why take everything off? You can still make it shine without removing the hardware. The difference in the finish can be pretty noticeable - particularly the first time you use it. Leaving dull spots under the bridge and tailpiece would suck. I took my hardware off and pulled the knobs, pickups, and switch trim ring too. Of course that's pretty easy stuff - nothing to be afraid of. Having done the cleaner and polish real well the first time, now I can just polish it lightly when changing strings. My next victim will be my Gibson CL-10 acoustic - it's looking dull and I can't wait to see what the Virtuoso does to it.
AXE® Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Why take everything off? You can still make it shine without removing the hardware. Strip it down Blue butt @ssed nekid. Tape off the neck.

Seriously, good luck and I hope all turns out well.
GuitarJunkie Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Didn't Tim do a pictorial on this? Not much as far as "how to" pics, but... http://forums.gibson.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=2829
