Recommended Posts

Hi long time no see felt I should show off my wares a little as I've been busy modifying my Les Paul Standard 08

With mine I've changed the pickup surrounds & toggle cover to black

Added gold pointers, changed the knobs to gold hats with silver inserts

AND rotated the neck pickup (May GREEN it but haven't decided yet)

Opinions & your own creations welcome...

EDIT heres how it used to look

Not sure "Customized" is the right term...but, maybe? Anyway...I added some personal

touches, to 4 guitars, as shown.

DSC_0029.jpg(Added Grover tuners, 5-ply pickguard, and '59 Truss Rod cover)

DSC_0013-1.jpg(Added tulip tuners, Selector Switch washers, TP6-Tailpiece, (all in gold, on the black one...both Les Paul Junior Lite's.)

DSC_0002-2.jpg(Changed plastic to "Cream," added TP-6 tailpiece...changed the pickguard, to a 3-piece laminated "cream" version, as 5-piece was not offered/available.)

Again, all for my own personal tastes...not due to any problem with "stock" parts.

All I've done is to put nickel covers on a pair of '1960 Classic' p-ups and swap out the ceramic caps for a pair of 'Grey Tigers' on another '1960 Classic'. No point in showing those 'Mods' off!

I don't really buy guitars which need much in the way of changes and I happen to share Gibson's own general ideas of how a Les Paul Standard should look.

Having said that, I do love what CB has done to his double-cuts.

my fully customised LP Trad, Callaham ABR-1 (nashville holes plugged with maple and re-drilled) Faber Aluminium locking tailpeice, CTS Pots, Bumblebee Caps, 59' Wiring, blank TRC, Nickel Jackplate, SD APH-2 Slash Zebra humbuckers, Pointer Washers, Schaller Straplocks & a blank toggle switch washer.

this is my main guitar so much so that I have sold all my other electrics and kept just this and my SG. This is crystal clear and so articulate that playing it puts a smile on my face every time! [thumbup]

my first Gibson, 2001 SG standard, TP6 stopbar, 57 / 57+ Gibson pups, pointer washers, 59' wiring, Sprague orange drop Caps, CTS pots & Schaller Strap locks.

after the success of my LP i'm going to replace the nashville with a callaham ABR-1 and Aluminium tailpeice. I never liked the bridge on these especially because of the cavity under the pickguard. less wood and a nashville means poor sustain and resonance IMO, also Woolftone on the G string and poor string balancing. She's a mean rhythm guitar (better rhythm attack than the LP) but not good enough for lead work.....yet [sad]
