retrorod
I posted about my find on the vintage guitar section of the forum when I first got her. Have had to do some work, but is playing fine now. Sounds outstanding. Believe it or not, she is my 1st(owned) round-shouldered Gibson dread. Have played a few and just knew that I had to have one someday(in my price range). I am into vintage ,so, she suits me perfectly. My '47-'48 Southern Jumbo... MissouriPicker
Sweet purchase. I love guitars like that. It's one of those "been there done that" instruments. If you get some sound clips, be sure to post a link. ......Congrats on a sweet one.

J-1854Me
My '47-'48 Southern Jumbo... Nice! I like it -- I particularly like those latter '40s early '50s SJs, and yours is from the period of a few years where they had the bottom belly bridge. I can't quite tell from the photo, but does yours have the unbound neck? Fred

GotTheSilver
Awesome! Congrats! A late 40s / early 50s SJ is pretty much my dream guitar. I, too, would love to hear some sound clips if you are able to post some.

retrorod
Awesome! Congrats! A late 40s / early 50s SJ is pretty much my dream guitar. I, too, would love to hear some sound clips if you are able to post some. Thanks ALL... for the replies. I will try to get rigged up so that I can play some sound samples in the near future. Being the 'dinosaur' that I am, some of this technology comes slow to me. But after I 'get it'....I am like an elephant and never forget....LOL I agree, one like this has been my dream acoustic for awhile. I can hardly believe my luck. I bought it at a local estate auction. One other guy was bidding also and he 'fessed up' that he was just going to flip it on Ebay if he had won it. I knew that I wanted it for ME and felt that I was capable of bringing her back to glory even after neglect and some fairly amateur repairs that were already made and some that were still needed. She is solid now and looks much better than when I got her. Rod
