CAL
I just bought a used '56 Goldtop reissue and am curious about the serial number - 4 6153 shouldn't that be a '54 reissue? The hang-tag model is LPR-6, the hang-tag serial number is 6 1182 It's certainly possible that the wrong paperwork ended up with this guitar, but I'd love to know any and all information available about both serial numbers. Thanks.
Custom Admin
46153 brings up 2 guitars: a '54 goldtop from 1996 and a '54 black beauty reissue from 2006. 61182 brings up an r6 from 2001. if 46153 is the number on the guitar, then you actually have a '54 goldtop, not a '56. CAL
It's got a tunematic (threaded posts) and stop tailpiece - no sign of modification. It does say "R4" inside the control cavity - stamped next to the neck vol pot. There are two signatures in the cavity, neither of which I can make out. Anything else I should look for by way of verification / identification / authentication? Any chance it was intended to be an R4, only to have a tunematic factory installed? Custom Admin
sure, that's possible. my concern is that you have a guitar that is iserialized wrong. if it's an r6 but has an r4-style number on it, then something is screwy...
