oldflattop Posted December 15, 2011 Share Posted December 15, 2011 I'm about to embark on upgrading a MIK Casino and was hoping that some of the Epi gurus here could give me some advice. In addition to installing a Bigsby B7 and some Kent Armstrong Casino P90s, I was planning on doing a (gulp) full swap-out of all the wiring, caps, pots, switches, etc. Just wondering if any one could give me any recommendations on what value of pots and caps I should get, and if there's anything in particular I should avoid. RaSTuS Posted December 15, 2011 Share Posted December 15, 2011 I was going to answer this earlier but I wasn't sure if they used 300k or 500k pot values, and I was too busy to check at the time. One thing I'll mention, most use Switchcraft jack and 3-way switch, CTS pots, Sprague Orange Drop caps are pretty popular too, they're inexpensive and reliable. With the CTS pots, you generally see two types for guitars, one has the shaft housing (the part that has the external thread and the nut screws over it) made out of die-cast metal, it has a silver/grey appearance, and the other uses brass for the housing, get the brass type, they only cost a little more and are the best of the two types. Good luck with the mods, it can be great fun, I'm weird, I get more enjoyment out of modding than playing (ducks and hides). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Fantana Posted December 17, 2011 Share Posted December 17, 2011 Attach a long piece of string to each of the old pots/switches etc BEFORE you remove them, as you pull them out the string will thread through the guitar and out of the f-holes.
