brianh Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Well the Ultra 339 arrived a few hours ago and it's pretty dang nice. I've looked all over for flaws and not much to speak of except the usual f-hole schmutz and a few miniscule scratches. The VSB finish is very even and vintage looking, the poly not overly thick, and no overspray that I can find. This is the first guitar I've ever had that came with a battery, and it's quite a luxury to be able to tune up without an outboard tuner. I have not plugged it in yet, but will post some sound clips sometime over the weekend. Did get all the case candy except a USB cable instead of 1/4" guitar cord and also got a Guitar Rig 4 setup guide. BTW, it appears the Ultra version does not include coil tapping... Here's the obligatory porn:
bigneil Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Now that's nice, Those 339s are getting everywhere....kinda want one myself now. HNGD
EpiphoneFan1989 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Congratulations. Very sweet guitar. The finish looks great. Looks like the daughter of your Casino.
brianh Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Is there enough free space at the walls There's always room for one more! Nice thing about having a long wall rack is the wife can't find the new ones.
matiac Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 She's a sweety, but I gotta wonder why Epiphone traces the outline of the body when they do a 'Burst? They do that on all their guitars that have a 'Burst finish, and to me, that ain't a sunburst, that's an outline. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but they should call it Vintage Outline, and again, I ain't dissin' your guitar, I want one myself, just don't understand, if they're gonna do a 'Burst...do a 'Burst! OK not ALL their 'bursts are like that, but most of 'em are. Happy New Guitar Day...now I want one...

In real life the fade is a bit more subtle.
Whitmore Willy Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Love it when the burst goes into the horns. Just beautiful! Willy
RaSTuS Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Drool, looks a million Brian, eager to hear your impressions on the plugged in performance, congratulations mate, HNU339D. BTW: did you know, I covert one of these, LOL.
DeweyCox Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I'd say that's one of the loveliest burst I've seen on a Epi, they should do 'em like that on the Sheraton. Great score Brianh
fretter Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Very nice! You're going to love the Ultra features. Plugging into two amps splitting the the humbuckers and the nanomag is quite the experience! It was like someone was playing along. Or you can run all three into one amp for a really fat sound. I already have the LP Ultra III, the 339 is next on my wish list.
brad1 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Very nice Brian! Congratulations on the new guitar. May you have many hours of fun with it.
brianh Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Well, I went to change out the strings today and noticed that the neck is cracked on my brand new Ultra 339, so back it goes:

Dang, that looks sharp, Pelham Blue is a strange colour for me, one day I'll love it, the next hate it, but I gotta say, on your U-339 it looks outstanding, HNGD on that one Brian.
