We cover Oh Well in my band. I love to introduce it with, "See if you know who this is". Most people guess ZZ Top [flapper]

Here's a bit of Trivia, Peter Green coerced Mick Fleetwood and John McVie into his band by naming it after them. "Fleetwood" for Mick and "Mac" for John

It's also interesting to note that Jeremy Spencer would sit in his motel reading the Bible while the other members were out partying. While out in L.A., he quit and joined a religious group.

Here's a bit more trivia to add on to that bit of trivia...

The band was originally meant to be called simply 'Fleetwood Mac' but the record company released the first album under the name 'Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac'.....

The first, simpler, version of the name had been decided by Peter Green even before they had a record out. When asked by Jeremy Spencer WHY he didn't want his own name in the band's title (PG was already very famous in the UK as he had taken over from Clapton in John Mayall's Buesbreakers) Green replied that sooner or later both JS and himself would be successful enough to leave 'F-M' to start new bands/projects of their own. This would leave MF and JMcV with nothing. At least if the band was called 'Fleetwood Mac' his two good friends would have the foundations of a band which had a well-know name and a good track-record.

When the first album came out Green was absolutely furious with the record company and demanded that from then on the group would be known by the simpler name.

What a guy, I have that much more respect for him. Mick and John sure knew what to do with that gift.

Well, some will say that they blew it all on coke and living large while knowing fully well that the man who worked himself into a wreck for the band until they fired him was wasting away living in the streets of London. But, I guess none of us will really know the truth about that, and I guess it's not really their responsibility to look after a former member of the band either. Danny Kirwan has to be one of the most tragic tales in rock though.

Jeremy has also admitted that he was the first in the band to do LSD, and then started preaching it to the others.

As much as it hurts, there's nothing anyone can do about someone bent on self destruction.

And you can't deny Fleetwood Macs legacy, nor the fact that the survived their bad decisions and carry on that legacy. Mick and John have held that group together through the worst of circumstances, even if you don't approve of how they conducted themselves in their private lives.

True. I seem to remember a Peter Green interview in some guitar mag back in the 90's when he resurfaced so to speak where he mention trying to help Danny but he didn't know how.

While you're right on this, Pippy, don't forget that before there was a group was named Fleetwood Mac, it was the song with that name that PG wrote. Pg, Mf and JMcV recorded it during studio time that John Mayall gave to PG as a present. PG was trying to coerce JMcV into leaving the Bluesbreakers and MF who had already been kicked out of the Bluesbreakers into starting a band which ultimately became Fleetwood Mac.
